5 Steps to Create a Successful Seasonal Campaign

As Pumpkin Spice season commends and Peppermint Mocha is nearing the corner there are many ways to have your seasonal campaign be a hit! Here are 5 tricks to grab your audience’s attention and gain anticipation for seasonal festivities.

1. Timing is Everything

Knowing the right time to begin running seasonal promotions is a key factor in grasping attention. There has been a lot of heat on stores and chains who have started rolling out seasonal items even earlier this year starting August 10th the earliest the season has ever started. Some were huge fans that they would get to enjoy an even longer #PSL season but on the other hand some were not ready for summer to end and fall flavors were just a sad reminder that beach days will be coming to an end. It is a tricky tactic to get right but you have to keep in mind that it is impossible to please everyone. Just shoot for satisfying the majority.

2. Know Who You are Catering To

Most fall lovers are women, from their teenage years all the way to their 50s. The reason for this is many beloved retail stores such as TJ Maxx, Target, Homegoods, and even some grocery stores such as Trader Joe’s are shopped more during their seasonal releases. These stores are geared more towards women and around the seasonal times It is all the craze to snag the exclusive fall/halloween, and Christmas decor or sweet treats. It also makes people feel like they are apart of something. People are more inclined to spend more on these products since they know that they will not be in stock for very long and wait all year for them. Christmas has a bit more range and is universally loved by all those who celebrate. However, women are the higher targets since they do a larger share of buying the winter flavored drinks, house decorations, and Christmas presents.

The fall drink receives plenty of social media love. Over 500,000 posts on Instagram are tagged with #pumpkinspicelatte, and 1.2 million don the tag #PSL. The drink even has its own verified Twitter account with over 100,000 followers.

3. Keep Classics but Always Add a Fun Twist Every Season

People love the nostalgic feeling and most are creatures of habit. We love what we know. Keeping the holiday staples such as pumpkin spice and peppermint but going a step farther and adding slight alterations to them is a great way to keep things fresh and exciting. Having additional new flavored drinks as well as the OGs allows for a better reach to satisfy a more diverse range of customers

4. Get Interactive

Brand awareness and having a social presence is huge. Posting about your campaign and creating fun hashtags like #spookyseason or challenges can be a fun way to get people to participate. For example gingerbread kit companies can host a contest for the best gingerbread house and have users tage the company and use a hashtag like #gingerbreadcontest22. Creating unique slogans can be a catchy way for customers to remember you or your product.

5. Engage With Your Audience

Getting involved with customers gives them a personalized experience and makes them feel seen and heard. Companies and brands can republish happy customers’ pictures of their products. Responding to customers comments and questions with personalized messages adds an authentic touch rather than generated or scripted messages.
