Do you want to improve your Instagram account and get more followers, shares or likes? If you answered yes to that question, then this article is for you. I’m going to explain what Instagram Insights is and how you can use and understand the various metric features. Whether you’re setting up a new business or just have a personal account, the information and advice I’ll give you will guarantee to take your Instagram profile to the next level.
What are Instagram Insights?
Instagram Insights is a feature in the Instagram app that allows you to view your overall trends, performance and engagement with your audience. The Insights tool has several features you can focus on such as specific insights on a post, story, reel or live videos that were created by you.
Where can I find Instagram Insights?
In order to gain access to Instagram Insights, your account must be a business or creator account.
- Go to your Instagram Profile page
- Click “Edit Profile”
- Scroll down to where it says “Switch to Professional Account
After you have done this, you are able to decide what kind of professional account you want to be. You can use this feature when you’re starting a page for your business or you can be like me and use it just for fun. I like to view my analytics to see how many people engage with my posts and how many people view my account. By making your account a professional account, you also have access to ad tools and the ability to boost specific posts for more outreach.
What other features are there on Instagram Insights?
When you click the “Insights” button on your profile, you are given your Insights Overview which includes accounts reached, accounts engaged, total followers and content you have shared. You are also able to see analytics from the last 7 days up to the last 90 days.
What’s the difference between Accounts Reached and Accounts Engaged?
Accounts Reached is the number of unique accounts that have seen your content. Accounts Engaged is the number of accounts that have interacted with your content such as likes, saves, comments, shares or replies. Both of these tools include content on posts, stories, reels, videos and live videos. Accounts Reached gives you the demographics of your audience. The categories that are shown are the top cities, top countries, age ranges and the gender of the audience your content has reached. You can also track how many people have visited your profile. Accounts Engaged gives you how many people have interacted with your account, the engaged audience based on followers or non-followers, and content interactions.
How do I use this information to my advantage?
With this information, you are able to track what posts did well and what posts didn’t. You can look at your popular posts and see who engaged with it the most so you know your ideal target audience. You can also see what type of content is the most engaging to your followers. Did you get more traction on a story or did you get more on a regular post? The possibilities are endless when using Instagram Insights.
